Vitamin D levels and Treatments for Hair Loss; How is this connected to your immune system health? Here is what the experts have to say: The Vitamin D Council – “Research has implicated Vitamin D deficiency as a major factor in the pathology of at least 17 varieties of cancer and also:
- Heart disease, Stroke and Hypertension
- Autoimmune diseases, Diabetes and Depression
- Chronic pain, Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis
- Muscle weakness, Muscle wasting and Birth defects
- Periodontal disease and more”
Dr. Greg Plotnikoff, Medical Director, Penny George Institute for Health and Healing, Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis reports – “Because vitamin D is so cheap and so clearly reduces all-cause mortality, I can say this with great certainty: Vitamin D represents the single most cost-effective medical intervention in the United States.”
Mike Adams, author said – “Sunlight is more powerful than any drug; it is safe, effective, and available free of charge. If it could be patented, it would be hyped as the greatest medical breakthrough in history. It’s that good.”
Dennis Mangan, clinical laboratory scientist understands – “This is like the Holy Grail of cancer medicine; vitamin D produced a drop in cancer rates greater than that for quitting smoking, or indeed any other countermeasure in existence.”

Daily requirements for vitamin D are now understood to be around or higher 800–1000 IU. Larger doses are needed if you are already Vitamin D deficient. For a moderate deficiency 15–25 nmol/L oral supplementation with 3000–5000 IU daily for 6–12 weeks is recommended to be used to replete stores followed up with a maintenance dose of 1000–2000 IU per day. It is a good idea to assess Vitamin D status every 3–4 months after commencing supplementation because Vitamin D is stored in fat and muscle and there is a delay before normalisation of serum concentrations are seen. http://www.australianprescriber.com/magazine/33/4/103/6 Bischoff-Ferrari HA, Dawson-Hughes B, Staehelin HB, Orav JE, Stuck AE, Theiler R, et al.
