Book written by Phillip Day and Nicholas Cockayne – The Essential Guide Vitamin C. Book reviewed by Kendall Wright, an Absolique Hair Health Clinic team member with edits by Hair Loss Treatment Sydney.
This easy to read, descriptive handbook, The Essential Guide Vitamin C has included a credible amount of information that I previously had no idea about. When it comes to thinking about Vitamin C, all I thought about was orange, but little did I know that was only the start. Day and Cockayne write about what Vitamin C is and what quantity is adequate, the diseases, controversy, research and the questions raised.
Vitamin C is a major essential nutrient plus helping to fight diseases and prevent illness, a historical example is scurvy. As the human body does not manufacture its own Vitamin C, it is very important to get this nutrient from our diets.
Hair Loss Treatment Sydney with Vitamin C Book Review:
- Vitamin C cannot be manufactured by humans
- Enhances collagen formation
- Essential nutrient for humans
- Helps in the prevention of disease and illness
As Vitamin C is most known to be found in things such as citrus fruits for example oranges, Vitamin C is also found in such foods as kiwifruits, dark leafy greens, blackcurrants, capsicums for example. Using these food items can create healthy, flavorsome meals which is packed full of nutrients and is so easy to prepare. A tip to remember that when cooking applying heat will destroy all the nutrients in the Vitamin C. What the experts say is “fresh is best!” and there was a study about an orange was left in a fruit bowl for two weeks and the researchers have concluded that the orange had shockingly lost half the amount of Vitamin C, going untouched just sitting in the bowl!
Another beneficial component of Vitamin C is that it helps to support our cardiovascular system which means this can prevent heart disease, which sadly, one in two people are affected by this. Vitamin C can be compromised by illnesses or stress and possibly increase the production of adrenalin within the body. If you feeling unwell or injured or even are pregnant you will require more Vitamin C, so when I am feeling a bit unwell or coming down with something I will be increasing my intake of Vitamin C and also eating the vitamin enriched foods or instead of going straight for medication at the chemist, I will be increasing my supplement dosage.
The outlines for therapeutic dosage of Vitamin C as told by Dr Klenner is 350mg/kg/day in divided dosages. Cancer is another disease that is assisted by Vitamin C in large amount, this is used because it strengthens the immune system and adds a huge amount of pain relief. Vitamin C also strengthens the collagen, this will keep the healthy cells together.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the handbook, The Essential Guide Vitamin C for a good, easy read and provides information and benefits of Vitamin C and how it can improve lifestyle and health.
